My Bio

Hi.  My name is John Sokolowski and this is a little about me.

I became a fitness trainer because I want others to experience the many benefits of being fit. This was also the motivating factor behind the creation of my website - Athlete 365, and my YouTube channel.

I meet people every day who have no idea how fitness can make them feel great. I am passionate about helping them discover how fun and easy it can be and what fantastic results they can achieve with an efficient, no-nonsense program.

I know first hand how good it feels to be in good shape. A former Olympian, I have been active all of my life and feel the positive effects of my training everyday – from the moment I wake up after a restful night sleep to the boundless energy I have to tackle whatever daily challenges I face. Being fit also gives me the confidence that I am healthy inside and out.

There are three things you should know about me:

I am an athlete.

I have competed in many different sports including track and field, football, bobsleigh and triathlons. In high school I was a nationally ranked 100 and 200 meter runner. In university I played varsity football and after university I was on Canada’s national bobsleigh team and competed around the world, including the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

I understand that not everyone loves sports and training like I do and not everyone aspires to be an Olympic athlete. But I do believe that my athletic background and the many hours I spent training with the best coaches and trainers gave me an incredible depth of knowledge that can be used to help people realize the benefits of being in great shape. My involvement in different kinds of sports has also given me an extensive breadth of knowledge.

I am a teacher.

I have a teaching degree and because of this, I understand how to help people learn. I understand that everyone has different motivations and different learning styles and this helps me tailor my training approach to each unique individual.

As a teacher, I understand that the best kind of learning is fun and interesting. I also know that a simple, straightforward, no-nonsense program that is easy to follow works best.

Part of what I teach is how to incorporate fitness into your life. This is huge. We are all busy people and very few of us have the luxury of spending hours in the gym every day. My programs use time efficiently while ensuring maximum results and I will help you find a way to incorporate fitness into your busy schedule.

I am a student.

My passion for fitness drives my quest for knowledge. I have an unquenchable thirst for the latest information about training, fitness and health and share what I learn with others.

I am also a student of people. I work hard to understand my clients and their goals. My first consultation involves more questions than answers because as I understand the importance of tailoring a training plan to each individual.

My passion and commitment has helped many clients enjoy the benefits of being fit and healthy. Many others follow my blog and subscribe to my YouTube channel to learn more about how being fit inside and out can lead to a happier, healthier and more balanced life.
