Top 10 fitness tips in 60 seconds

"How do I lose body fat"?

"What is the best way to do improve cardio"?

"What are the best exercises for me to do"?

These are some of the questions I get on a daily basis. Often, when I meet someone and they find out that I am a fitness trainer, I get bombarded with numerous inquiries on what to do, to improve this or that on their body.

The issue with all of these questions is that I usually get them outside of the gym, and only have less than one minute to answer. Ideally, I could meet with each person for about five hours and have an in depth conversation about their fitness and nutrition habits, as well as introduce them to my approach to fitness. Unfortunately, that is not the case. People live busy lives and have a hard enough time just fitting regular workouts into their schedule.

So I thought it would be fun to list my top 10 fitness tips that I could tell you in approximately 60 seconds if I were to meet you on the street. Here they are:

1. Train five days per week for 30-45 minutes total.

2. Don't use machines. Use your bodyweight, dumbbells, medicine balls, barbells, kettlebells.

3. Don't sit. Do all exercises standing.

4. Do your workouts in a circuit with 6-8 exercises.

5. Don't do slow cardio work. Do intervals.

6. Wear a heart rate monitor.

7. Don't eat bagels.

8. Cut booze out entirely if you want to drop a quick 5-10 lbs.

9. Make sleep a priority.

10. Eat real food. The less ingredients, the better.
